Happy Halloween!

Today's the day! And so, today you get the creepiest of photos. My friend, Scott, forgot these at my apartment last night after we all got back from an awesome Halloween party. So, today? Photo shoot! Hope you got thoroughly freaked out over the last week. BOO!

Pumpkin time

We carved pumpkins today with our neighbors. Gotta say, can't remember the last time I actually carved a pumpkin. Here are a couple shots of the ones that turned out the best (somehow, it was the boys' pumpkins that reigned supreme).

It's almost here

I have always loved black cats...and Loki is no different. He's an awesome cat who lets me take awesome pictures of him. And he is definitely staying inside on Sunday so nothing Halloweeny happens to him.

What's creepier than real life?

These are a couple of shots that I took when I went on a picture taking adventure with my friend Kevin a couple of months ago. One of them has been posted on my blog before, but the other one is new to you guys. Gotta say, the train tracks are a creepy place. Why someone decided to take off their pants and shoes is beyond me. What you can't tell is that the piece of wood on the right side is actually a wooden stake...so Kevin and I pondered the possibility of vampires in San Luis. Creepy much?

It's getting closer...

Only 4 more days until Halloween! It'll be the first time in at least four years that I haven't had to work Halloween evening/night. I'm really looking forward to having the whole day to get ready. This has got to be my favorite holiday! What other day of the year do you get to go around scaring children and not get in trouble? Trust me, parents get mad when you try to scare their kids on Christmas...party poopers.

Jour trois!

I was playing with the face paint that I got for Halloween and decided to take a few shots. I'm going to be Sally from Nightmare before Christmas, so I'm practicing the whole stitches look. Hope you like the photos! Halloween is just 5 days away now! OoooOOOooooOooooOoooo...

Day #2

Second day of Halloween Spookiness! Hope you like it.

Sunday, October 24, 2010

One week!

Seeing as Halloween is just one week away, I thought I would post a week of creepy, crawly, spooky, Halloweeny photos. Seeing as I have a black cat and a bit of imagination, this seems like a doable project. Enjoy day one of the Halloween Spooktacular Photography thingy!

Gotta love that morning light

Took this yesterday morning right after Noah and I ate breakfast. We have a lot of succulents on our table in the kitchen and every time he waters that one, I love the way it holds a drop of water in the middle for hours. This is another one of those photos that looks even better when it's bigger, so feel free to click on it for a larger version. Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

my boys

Couple shots of my two favorite boys. Noah had awesome hair, and Loki was actually in one of the holes in his cat tree. Tadaa!

4 months

It's been four months now since I've had a cigarette! Yay for me! It still sucks and I still want to smoke, but I'm staying strong. Thank you again for all the support and love that you guys have sent my way.

So tired

Went back to work today after a night of very little sleep. And now, I am exhausted. Hope everyone enjoyed their Wednesday!

All good things end

Back to work in the morning. It was a lovely restful vacation.

cell phone photos

I just returned from the New Times office where I dropped off three photographs for the annual photography contest. The front desk lady took one look at the monkey hand picture and said, "If this doesn't win something....". That definitely boosted my spirits. So, keep your fingers crossed for me!

Today, a quick photograph that I took with my phone on my birthday. It was a gorgeous sunset out in Pozo even if the concert we went to left a bit to be desired. Definitely brought back lots of memories of being quite a bit younger (like 20 years younger).

and a few more

So, to answer a couple questions about the contest:
-I can enter as many photographs as I want
-The categories are: people, sports, manmade, land/seascape, animals, flora, travel, open

I think I'll definitely be entering the sunflower (one of my favorite photographs that I've ever taken). I'd also really like to do the monkey hand, but I have to enter it as travel since it wasn't taken on the central coast (apparently Hawaii isn't from Guadalupe to Ragged Point). And here are a couple more I was thinking about. I have until 5pm tomorrow to decide and enter.

decisions decisions

The annual New Times photograph contest is coming up here in San Luis. Entries are actually due on Monday. Here are a few I was thinking about entering. Any thoughts?

It's my birthday!

No, I didn't take this picture. It's me and it's my birthday so I'm taking the day off from trying to find a decent photograph to post. Hope everyone else has a fabulous day because I'm certainly planning on doing so!

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Do you see what I see?

Well, three hours until my birthday. I'm thinking that Noah and I might go out at midnight to celebrate...and then sleep in to celebrate. Enjoy the photographs. Silly animals thought they could hide.

chillin' and relaxin'

Didn't go out and take pictures today (instead stayed at home and made some fingerless gloves/wristlets). So, thought I'd post a couple more shots from my vacation last year in Hawaii. If it was a year ago, I'd be flying out tomorrow for a week on the islands. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to settle with the gorgeous central coast of California this year. I know, I've got it rough.

Let my vacation begin!

I now get a week off of work to relax and do nothing. So, I chose a photograph that I took on my vacation last year in Hawaii. This was taken as Noah and I were walking from our hotel up towards Diamond Head. The clouds separated just right and let rays on sunlight stream down onto the ocean. It was an awesome hike!

I need to go take pictures!

Spent far too long going through my picture files to find something for today. I feel like everything is the same old same old. I need to go out and find something new and exciting to photograph. Any ideas? I have a week off of work coming up in just a couple days, so I feel like I need to take advantage of the time off and shoot something spectacular. Leave a comment if you can think of anything within a reasonable driving distance. Hope you enjoy!

had something else in mind

Went to my moms' today for Open Studios and took some pictures while I was there. Had planned on posting some of them today...of course that was until I got home and realized my camera was still on their kitchen counter. Oops. So, you'll just have to settle for more beachy photos. I did actually purchase some of her art (it was all awesome) though, so will probably be taking some photographs of it and posting them in the near future. If you haven't already, you check out her artwork on her blog: alteredbythesea.blogspot.com. As always, I hope you enjoy the photos!

Yeah, it's a rough life

Some shots that I took when I went out to Montana de Oro with Noah and Kevin a couple weeks ago. It was over 100 degrees in San Luis Obispo, but it was perfect out by the ocean. Nice to know that something so beautiful is just a 20 minute drive away.

some perspective

Thought I'd throw in this photograph of Loki with the items. It gives some perspective on how tiny they are. One more piece of perspective: these are actually all charms for making jewelry that I picked up at work. I guess working at a craft store can be helpful with my photography. Now if we only carried photography supplies and equipment. Yeah, don't think that's going to happen any time soon.

day two of minis

Here are a couple more shots from my "miniature project". Hope you like them.

mini project

Started a project on taking photographs of toys or miniature things. Here are a couple of shots that I have so far. Hope you like them.

In other news, how does it go from 113 degrees to 67 degrees and raining in just a week? I don't get it. Must be that global warming thing I keep hearing about.

right place, right time...again

The weather this past week has been more than a bit weird. A week ago, it was 113 degrees. Friday, it rained. Saturday, we had a lightning storm. Today? Cold, windy and cloudy...rather autumnal actually. Shot this photograph this morning during a quick break in the weather. Hope you enjoy!

roses are red

And so are raspberries and tomatoes!! I don't like to eat tomatoes, but I love taking pictures of the ones that Noah grows on our patio. If only we had raspberries growing out there....mmmmmmmm.

cleverness eludes me

That's right, I can't think of anything clever to say. Was up early this morning and will be up late tonight. Work all day and party all night...it's rough, but someone's gotta do it. It's my best friend's birthday party tonight, so I'm all dressed up and getting ready for a night of ridiculousness (it's a word). Hope everyone out there is enjoying their weekend!

I'm back!

Had today off and plenty of room on my credit card, so voila! It was time to get back to 2010 (although the computer from 2000 was working amazingly well). Plus, my cameras were getting a little full. Took off more than 200 photos...some of which were actually decent. Hope you enjoy and thanks for your patience and good computer thoughts!
