baby, it's cold outside

Anyone else ready springtime weather? It's been so cold the past week. Oh well, I guess it is that time of year. Here are a few more shots from the cemetery yesterday. Enjoy.

Lovely day off

Went out picture taking with my friend, Kevin, today. We started at the Old Mission Cemetery in San Luis and then headed out to the Sand Spit at Montana de Oro. Then spent the rest of the day relaxing, doing laundry, and decorating a bit for Christmas. Hope you enjoy today's shots!

*yawn*

I survived the weekend! It was crazy and I'm exhausted, but no more black Friday weekend for another year. Now I'm going to go to bed and then enjoy my day off tomorrow.

It's beginning to look a lot like....

Well, you know. So, I'm posting some slightly un-Christmassy flowers. These were both taken at my mammas' house on Thanksgiving. Enjoy!

sooooo tired

Had to get up this morning at 5am so I could be to work at 6am. Luckily, I am now off of work and have another batch of green bean casserole in the oven for yet another Thanksgiving celebration this afternoon/evening. Yesterday was simply fabulous! Wonderful people, great food, and farkle...who can ask for more?

Happy happy!

What are you thankful for? Me? I'm thankful for the wonderful people in my life, the fact that I have a job (even if it drives me nuts sometimes), the hot cup of coffee that I'm drinking and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade that I'm watching. In a few hours, I'll start making some delicious green bean casserole and be on my way to a big dinner. Hope everyone out there enjoys their turkey and mashed potatoes, and stuffing and all the fixings!

thirsty?

Have to work until 11pm tonight. Damn you Thanksgiving sales that have to be set up the night before! Hope everyone else has a very happy Thanksgiving eve.

no time to monkey around

This is the worst week of the year to work retail...that is all.

beautiful day

The sun is shining, the coffee's brewing, I'm thinking it's going to be a good day. Perhaps I'll actually get outside and take some pictures (was sooo disappointed when it rained all day Friday and I was cooped up inside).

5 months

I have been smoke free for 5 months today! Which means just one more month and that's half a year! I can't quite believe it.

Phone Fun

Noah and I went for a walk yesterday in a break in the rain. While he was collecting succulents, I shot this with my cell phone. Hope you like it!

something different

I came across this story on NPR yesterday and thought it was such a neat idea. Carl Warner takes food and makes amazing landscapes out of it. He then takes photographs of the landscapes he's created. There are some really amazing shots on his website. So, I thought today instead of posting my own photography, I'd send you to go check out his. He does some amazing still lifes as well. Hope you enjoy!

RIP

Our cute little runt fish who has had issues ever since we moved back in February finally died the other day. He was awesome. Miss ya, little dude!

oops!

Sorry about the lack of post yesterday. Somebody gave me too many tequila shots and it completely slipped my mind. This is a shot I took back in 2008 when my best friend Anna and I went to Disneyland for our birthdays (which are exactly two weeks apart). We're standing in line for the haunted mansion which was all decorated for Nightmare Before Christmas. Fun times.

another oldie

Another shot from back in 2006. This was my beta fish, Boris. I had him for over a year. He was a pretty awesome fish...and gorgeous colors.

Being alone doesn't have to be lonely

This is definitely an older shot. I took it back in 2006 right after I moved back to the central coast from Santa Cruz. I had a studio in Morro Bay. It's the only time in my life that I lived completely alone: no roommates, no family, just me and my fish, Boris. If you've never lived alone, I would definitely recommend it at least once in your life. I love living with Noah now and I loved having my best friend, Anna, as a roommate, but it was definitely a good experience to learn to live with myself.

aren't we all?

Just watched Alice in Wonderland and this phrase seemed appropriate. A few years ago, I was in my favorite book store in Santa Cruz (Logos) and found this awesome book: Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable. Not only is there a wealth of interesting tid bits within its pages, but apparently, it's rather photogenic as well. Hope you enjoy!

cold and dark

I don't like that it gets dark so early now. And it's been so cold at night now. Makes taking pictures after work much more difficult. Ah well...perhaps I'll find some time this weekend so I won't be using old photographs anymore.

epitome

So, these photographs are not artistic in the least. I was out and about the other day and saw this tree with beer bottles in it. If you don't know me, my last name is Bierbaum which means "beer tree" in German. Needless to say, this has caused quite a bit of hullabaloo in my life. So these pictures just seemed to be the epitome of "beer tree." Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

blech

It's a quickie today because I'm sick and ready for bed. Enjoy the morning birds!

eggcellent

Ok, corny title...couldn't come up with anything good. Well, I probably could come up with something better than "eggcellent", but I'm tired and don't feel like thinking too hard today. Hope you like the little speckled, free range, organic egg picture (I have a theory that happy chickens lay better tasting eggs).

Distracted

I went disc golfing with Noah the other morning. While he was working on his form and making awesome throws, I was getting distracted and taking pictures. He knows me well enough though to expect this kind of behavior.

Saturday, November 6, 2010

By any other name

Noah and I went to Farmer's Market the other night and I couldn't resist the deep red roses. Where else can you end up with 15 roses for $8? Noah decided that he needed the orange one as well. We'd been home probably less than an hour before I had my camera out shooting pictures.

Hello, sunshine!

C'mon, I dare you to say that this plant isn't loving the sunshine in this picture.

Psycho Birds out my Rear Window

Ok, so really I took these pictures out the side window of my car, and there was nothing psycho about them, but they did remind me of the movie The Birds. I always think of the movie when I see a group of crows. This is what was waiting for me when I got to work. Part of me just wanted to stay in the car. And is it just me, or does it make them even creepier that a group of them is a murder...a murder of crows. Good thing it's not a week ago, I'd think Halloween spookiness was behind it all.

colorful

Noah brought this cookie home from work for me just so I could take pictures of it. Do I have a sweet boyfriend or what?

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Did you?

Please excuse the webcam graininess. So, did you?

Welcome fall

Time for pumpkin seeds, pomegranates, and sparkling cider.
