5...4...3...2...1...

Here's a collage of a few of the photographs I took this year. It's only 32 of the hundreds of shots but I thought it'd be fun to do a quick summary for the last day of the year. I wish you all luck and love and happiness in 2011!

c'mon 2011!

Even the last day of 2010 is going to be a bit icky. I have to be at work at 5:00am! It could be worse though, my boss asked me if I could come in a 4:00am and I said nope. Seriously ready for a new year with new possibilities.

More plant pictures...now time to relax.

happiness

I have come to the conclusion that it is nearly impossible to look at something yellow and not be happy. Think about how happy you are when you see a yellow balloon...or daffodils (basically the happiest flower on the face of the earth). I have also come to the conclusion that my kitchen table has the best lighting in the late morning for taking photographs of plants. These are the same roses that I showed you a few days ago. However, now they're starting to open up. I wouldn't be surprised if you see a few more shots of them in the next week. Enjoy and smile!

The morning after

Ended up staying the night in Cayucos last night after having an amazing Christmas dinner at our friend's beach house. This is the lovely morning that we woke up to today! Not bad considerring the downpour of rain the day before.

Happy Christmas to all!

Eve-ning

It's Christmas Eve Evening. A night that is so magical for children all over the world. In a lot of ways, it's sad being a grown up and having some of that magic no longer around. I will probably get a full night's sleep; I won't wake up at 4am and then have to wait another hour and a half until I'd be allowed to wake up my parents; and for the first time, I'll have family over to mine and Noah's place. Instead, there's a new magic. Hope everyone has a magical evening and that you don't lose too much sleep listening for reindeer hooves. You know that Santa won't show until you're asleep...them's the rules.

Best boyfriend ever!

Got home from work today and Noah had gotten me roses at Farmer's Market. He'd also brought raspberries. Jealous? You should be! I'm a lucky lucky girl.

least artistic post ever!

Ok, so these photos are not good quality or artistic at all...but they are hilarious. I found this elf hat at work and thought it would be funny to get it on Loki (even if it would only be for about 5 seconds). He's been waking us up at 6:30 every morning since the time change thinking that he's starving. Even after we feed him, he decides that we should really be up paying attention to him so he'll sit in front of the bedroom door and meow loudly until we get up (even if it takes hours). This was his punishment. I want to make a statement that I don't normally dress up my cat and I think that costumes on cats are completely ridiculous! But, as I said, this is his punishment for waking my ass up early on my days off. Jenny 1 Loki 1,000,000,000,000...I'm catching up!

6 months!

6 months ago today I had my last cigarette! I can't believe that I've been able to do it. Awesome!

almost heeeere

Just five days until Christmas! Just 12 days until 2011! Just 179 days until Live Oak! Ok, so that last one is still a ways off, but Christmas is just around the corner, as is the new year! Are you ready?

mmm mmm good

Ok, today was Christmas dinner #2. Went to a potluck at Sustenance Cooking Studio here in San Luis Obispo. If you live in the area, I would definitely recommend checking them out for their lunch demonstrations or evening classes or any of their events. Now, I'm full of good food, good wine and good company. Time to kick off my heels, relax with a cup of tea and try not to think too much about all the crazy Christmas customers that I'll have to deal with in the morning.

Almost here

Yep, just 7 days left. Had my first of several Christmas dinners tonight with Noah's father and family. It was delicious. Tomorrow is a Christmas potluck at Sustenance and then who knows. I'm sure there will probably be at least two more after that. No wonder we always gain weight during the holidays. So many fancy dinners, deserts, snacks, drinks, candy, cookies, and what not. Happy Merry Christmas Week!!! Now if the rain will just stop...

so much to do!

It seems I have so much to do in the next week. There are dinners to go to, potlucks to cook for, presents to wrap, plans to be made, and a pile of laundry that won't magically disappear no matter how much I wish. So, obviously, I just don't have much time to write today. Enjoy the pictures, I'm off to make Christmas happen!

dark

Can't believe how dark it is at 5:00pm. Getting off work at 5 is fairly early for me now, but it's already dark. And once it gets dark, I become a homebody. Damn fall/winter and your cold dark weather. Why can't it stay light until 9pm year round? It would make me a much happier camper. Luckily I have present wrapping to do which can be done perfectly in the dark (well, not in the dark, but when it's dark outside)...then perhaps onto my knitting project.

almost tomorrow

And I just got home from work. Don't quite understand why a craft store nowhere near downtown or any busy shopping center needs to stay open until 11pm around Christmas. Nobody has crafting emergencies at 11pm. Oh well...it happens every year. Guess I should be used to it by now. And in less than two weeks, things will be back to normal and I'll be home at normal times! Just wish I enjoyed Christmas time as much at work as I do when I'm not at work.

2011?

I'm really ready for 2010 to be over and done with. Let's just say, it hasn't been my favorite year and I definitely will not be sad to see it end. Just have to survive the next few weeks first though, I suppose. I feel like 2011 holds promise. Who knows what may happen: a new job, perhaps? winning the lottery? travelling somewhere new and exciting? Any of those would be an improvement over this year.

Gorgeous weather

This sunny weather in December is confusing me. It was 81 degrees yesterday! Usually, I would be jumping for joy at the warm sunshine. As it's less than two weeks until Christmas though, I'm not sure if I like it.

Here's a picture that I took a few years ago. It's always made me feel warm and sunny on the inside when I've looked at it. So, for those of you reading this who aren't having gorgeous weather, I hope this helps. Enjoy!

I think we've lost our minds

This is something my friend Kevin and I built at work today. I think we may have lost it (mentally at any rate). Working retail this time of year will do that to you. Does it remind anyone else of those old Eye Spy books? We had a Christmas one when I was little and this brings back memories of it. Enjoy!

Ballet!

My friend, Danielle and I went to see The Nutcracker tonight. It's been years and years and years since I've been to the ballet. I felt like a little girl again. I just wanted to start dancing around pretending that I was a ballerina. It was magical.

In other news, here are a few shots of my Christmas tree! I can't help but smile when I walk into the apartment and see it.

Getting things done

Another photograph taken the same day as the one posted yesterday.

Got my Christmas tree today! It's all decorated and glowing now. Spent the day wrapping presents, doing laundry and generally getting things done that needed to be done. Hope you had a productive Friday as well.

back to "normal"

Had a normal shift at work today, got a normal night's sleep and feeling rather "normal" again. Tomorrow's my day off and I'm thinking about going and getting a Christmas tree. I have all these presents that need to be wrapped and put under a tree...so, I need a tree under which I can put said wrapped presents.

I took this picture back in 2006 when I went up to San Jose for Christmas at my sister's apartment. Hope you enjoy!

still pretty tired

Here are a few shots that I took of our fish tank back in January. Hope you like them!!

can't think

I am so beyond tired. Running on basically no sleep the past few days. That's the problem with overnights. I can't sleep once it's light outside...and if I don't get home from work until an hour before the sun comes up, that means not much sleep.

7pm is coffee time!

Tonight is night two of overnights at work. Working 9pm-5:30am is rough. At least I have tomorrow off....well, kind of. Not completely off since I'll be there until 5:30am. I'm thinking I'll try to make it a bit easier on my crew tonight by ordering them pizza. Everybody works better when they have a little free pizza in them, right?

C is for cookie

Noah and I decorated Christmas cookies last night. To keep him interested, I found these "Ninjabread Men" cookie cutters. What boy can resists ninjas? Here's the one ninja that I decorated...he somehow lost his leg. It can be tough being a ninja around Christmas. Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed the cookies!

rain, rain go away

So, it's really more just cloudy than rainy. But it still wasn't a nice sunny warm day. This photograph made me feel better.

TGIF!

I can really only say that every other week...or sometimes even less than that. Haven't had a weekend off in a few weeks now. Looking forward to a lazy Saturday filled with Christmas cookie decorating and hot cocoa.

My sister's old today!!!!!!

Ok, so I didn't take this picture...I actually stole it from my mom's blog today. But it's my sister's 30th birthday today and I know at some point, she'll read this and I have to make fun of her for turning 30 (even though I'll be there in just 3 short years). So, Bronwyn, happy birthday and you're old! Love you!

time for a drink

Finally off work, time for a small drink and then off to bed to start all over again in the morning.

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

baby, it's cold outside

Anyone else ready springtime weather? It's been so cold the past week. Oh well, I guess it is that time of year. Here are a few more shots from the cemetery yesterday. Enjoy.

Lovely day off

Went out picture taking with my friend, Kevin, today. We started at the Old Mission Cemetery in San Luis and then headed out to the Sand Spit at Montana de Oro. Then spent the rest of the day relaxing, doing laundry, and decorating a bit for Christmas. Hope you enjoy today's shots!

*yawn*

I survived the weekend! It was crazy and I'm exhausted, but no more black Friday weekend for another year. Now I'm going to go to bed and then enjoy my day off tomorrow.

Saturday, November 27, 2010

It's beginning to look a lot like....

Well, you know. So, I'm posting some slightly un-Christmassy flowers. These were both taken at my mammas' house on Thanksgiving. Enjoy!
