So, not only do I take Noah along on photo adventures because he knows awesome places to go, but he's just so darn photogenic. I love taking pictures of him...especially when he's unaware of it. I have to admit to being a bit bias what with him being my boyfriend and everything, but he just looks so damn good in photos.
Noah is, and always has been a monkey boy. What you can't tell from this picture, is that this branch he's sitting on, is actually hanging over the top of the waterfall. Quite a ways down if he fell...not a perch I would pick for myself.
This last photograph I put in because it so perfectly illustrates our relationship. We have fun. We make each other laugh. We're pretty much completely ridiculous...and I love it! If you've been together for over a decade, like we have, you have to keep your sense of humor. I put this one in so you could see a piece of my actual life that doesn't necessarily always show through in my photos.

Waterfall Day 2

Picture Adventure
Went out to several new places today. Noah, Kevin and I decided it was adventure day. For some reason, even though I have also lived in this area my whole life, Noah knows of all these really cool places that I've never been to. To start off, we went to the waterfall off of Hwy 101 before you go up the grade. It was awesome. With all the rain that we've been having, there was plenty of water. Next we went to a park that I never knew existed and finally went for a beautiful drive all the way along Perfumo Canyon Rd. Ended up with 155 shots. Even more shocking, there were quite a few that I was more than pleased with. Here are two of them:
I'm sure that I'll be using a lot more from today over the next week or so. Hope you like them.

cell phone
Time again for some photographs taken with my cell phone. Not the best quality, but pretty decent when you consider the source.
I'm planning on going out to the waterfall to take pictures with my friend, Kevin, tomorrow. Never been there before so we're forcing Noah to drive us. Hopefully I'll get some amazing shots to show you.

Can't hardly wait...
I have found the camera I want! It's gonna take a bit longer than I thought to afford it though as it's a better camera than I had originally planned on getting. It's the Canon EOS Rebel T2i. It's an 18 megapixel DSLR. It shoots video in 1080p. It's basically the highest quality camera you can get under $1000. So, instead of one of my photos today, I wanna show you what my baby will look like when I can eventually get it (even if I had the money today, it's back-ordered everywhere!):

Cute Kitty
I actually got some good shots of my cat yesterday! I took nearly 40 pictures though and only a few were up to my standards. Black cats are hard to photograph with a point and shoot. My camera doesn't want to focus on something black and even when it does, it wants to use a very slow shutter speed. Problem with the slow shutter speed is that my cat doesn't like to stay still very long.
This last one is when he decided that he wanted to attack the camera. Not the best photograph, but I thought it was so cute the way he was reaching for the lens.

Oh to be a child again...
My best friend and her son came over yesterday for a visit. Jaden decided he needed a drink and since we live across the street from 7/11, that meant something with lots of color. Once his mouth was thoroughly red, it was time for some pictures. Anna and I both had our cameras out. This kid is so photogenic! And unlike most of the adults I know, he loves having his picture taken. The perfect model, really.

Right place, right time
I had to get up early today for work...earlier than usual. I had to be at work at 7:00, which meant getting up at 5:30 since I have this incessant need to be everywhere early. And thank god I do. While sitting in the parking lot, I looked over at the sun and it was doing this amazing thing in the clouds. It was one of those moments when I'm so glad that I have my camera in my purse at all times. I'm posting three of the shots today and I might post a couple more in the future. These were my favorite though. And yes, it is the sun, not the moon.
And quick question to any and all who read my blog. Any good places I should go (locally) and take pictures? I'm running out of new places that I can get to easily.

Can't come up with a clever title today
So, this is gonna be another quick one. Have had a few glasses of wine and am playing Wii bowling with the boyfriend and our friend, Josh.
This first one I took in the drive through at In n' Out last night. Everytime I close, I stop by on my way home to get some dinner for Noah and myself. It's a delicious once a week treat.
And this one just makes me happy. This is out plecostomus in our fish tank. He cracks me up. And his eyes are crazy. Anyway, like I said, I just like this one...not for any photographical (it might be a word) reason, just cuz it's cute.

What is it?
I like taking abstract photographs. There's just something about patterns that draws me in. It's as if there's something that makes sense in the chaos that is life.
This first one is actually of my television. Or at least, part of it. Rows and rows of teeny tiny black holes.
The second is a line of nails laid out on my kitchen table. They're the kind you use in a nail gun, so they're attached to one another with little plastic bands.

Let's take another look...
So, here are a couple more that I took of this fairy mirror that I have. I know I posted one yesterday. It just amazes me how a different angle can completely change the way you look at something in a picture. They're all photographs of the same thing, but you can make it look so different by moving the camera ever so slightly.

Betcha can't guess what I did all day...
Did you guess? Did ya? Ok, well, maybe not all day. But I did spend quite some time knitting today. It was a good activity to do while watching Camelot and waiting for my laundry to wash and dry. Almost done with my scarf. Which considering that I'm using size 8 needles and using the whole 366 yards (take that the whole 9 yards...you ain't got nothing on me!), that's a long scarf!
I'll admit that both of these photographs are very similar. Thing is, I liked 'em both. And it's my blog, so it's up to me. Hope you enjoyed!

Lovely day in paradise
It was another gorgeous day here in San Luis Obispo. I took a nice walk down to the library, heard adventures of my sister's drunken evening, got some supplies to start a portfolio and slept in until 10:00am! Ok, so the sleeping in thing happened first. My chronology in that sentence was way off. I've had a couple people ask if I do prints. I haven't really, but if you'd like one, let me know. You can just shoot me an e-mail at jennybierbaum@ymail.com. I'm sure it can be arranged.

Let's take a walk
I took a walk with my friend, Anna, today. We just walked to her house from mine and back. On the way back, I stopped multiple times, pulled my camera out of my purse and took some pictures. Luckily, Anna is also into photography, so she completely understands the need to pull out your camera when you see something that needs to be captured. I think the only thing that got to her was the fact that she didn't have her camera with her. It's definitely nice to have a friend that understands your obsession. These two stood out to me:
This first one was just outside her house. It was the biggest dandelion I have ever seen. As I was taking it, I said to Anna, "God, I love macro." I really do. You've probably figured this out by now from all the photographs I've posted. Flowers just always look good up close. They always amaze me. They're so intricate once you look really closely at them.
This next one was one of those moments when you really appreciate the zoom on a digital point and shoot. Even once I get my fancy camera, it'll be my point and shoot that I keep in my purse at all times. Carrying around a big camera with a big zoom lens in my purse just won't be practical. This was a doorway on a building that was pretty far away. It was also not one of those buildings where I would want to walk right up and take a close up picture. It was a moment when the zoom came in very very handy. I love how it turned out. The lines of the handrail cutting through the shot really make it for me. It perfectly shows what caught my eye as I was walking by. Lucky shot.
Well, time to enjoy the rest of my day off. I have three more of them coming up, so I'll try to keep shooting more stuff and show you a bit of my life. Enjoy.

Let there be light
I survived my 8 day stretch at work! Now I have four days off. Don't have to make the drive up to Paso Robles until Tuesday morning. Planning on sleeping in, relaxing, doing some reading and just having a lovely four day weekend.
This first picture was taken at Disneyland while waiting in line for the Indiana Jones ride. I remember right after I took it, Noah gave me this weird look and said, "Did you just take a picture of the light?" I said, "Yes, yes I did." When he saw the result, he agreed that it was worth the oddness of taking a picture of a light.
The second photograph was taken with a digital camera looking through an old Brownie camera that my mom gave to me. I love the way it turned out. It's such nice warm lighting with an antiqued look.

Weird weather
So, we had a little bit of everything today weather-wise. I woke up and it was sunny. When I got off work, it was super windy (always fun driving in crazy wind). Once I'd been home for a couple hours, it started raining. Then the sun came back out. I just don't understand the weather. The highlight of my day came though the moment it started raining. Let me explain:
For the past few months, the building next to my apartment has been under construction. It's been vacant the entire time we've lived here and now they're turning it into an office. So, every morning at 7am, we've been woken up by jackhammers, air compressors, nail guns, and all sorts of other unpleasant noises. They've been on the roof putting in air conditioners (which means at eye level with out kitchen window), knocking out walls, drilling holes, and just being completely inconsiderate of the fact that there are people actually living next door. Today, they were painting the outside of the building. That is, they were painting until the moment it began to rain...and I began to giggle. Cruel of me, I know...but I couldn't help it. It was a small sweet victory for me. And now the painted wall is all streaky and they'll have to do it over. It shouldn't bring me such joy, but we have to find joy in the little things, right?
Ok, onto the photographs. These are a couple more shots that I took in Anna's back yard. She has a gorgeous back yard. So picturesque.
Hope you enjoyed and stayed dry today.
