Ok, so this really isn't even a good photograph. This is a spider that I almost put my hand on yesterday as I went to take out the trash cans. It was not what I was expecting, to say the least. Damn!

Fun day in the sun
Yesterday was a beautiful day in Cayucos. Birthday bash at a beach house with hot tubs, bbq, pool tables, good people and lots of laughs...and yes some birthday absinthe.
Today has been great so far too. Treasure hunting at the swap meet, breakfast at Big Sky and now a pile of laundry staring me in the face. Have a great day.

compare and contrast
Ok, here's another one of those photo projects of mine. This time, I took a photograph of basically the same thing with my digital camera as well so you can really see the difference it makes to shoot through the old camera.
And now I am off to spend the day at a beach house in Cayucos relaxing in a hot tub. I know, it's a tough life that I lead. Enjoy!

too flippin hot!
In an effort to cool down as it is nearly 10:00pm and still almost 90 degrees in my apartment, I thought I would post some nice cool pictures. And yes, I'll admit that I just opened my freezer and took shot some photos. It was lovely having the freezer door open and getting close to the ice trays. Sometimes you should mix business with pleasure! Hope you're all surviving the heat. Now, go eat some ice cream.

Here's what I'm using
Thought I'd show you the cameras I've been using in the past couple of posts. I'm planning on doing some better quality ones. These have been rather quick rush jobs. I need to get out my tripod so I can do longer exposures, and spend more time on the photo editing after. I have tomorrow off, so perhaps that will be my project for the day.
So, the older camera is Kodak Duraflex II. It has a flip up viewer that you look down into. Or in this case, you shoot down into.
And if you read my blog, you're aware of my other camera. It's a Canon Rebel EOS T2i. It's pretty much my favorite possession in the whole world.
And now you know.

here we go again
Tonight is night 3 of being at work until 2:30am. My good friend and coworker (and fellow department manager) lost her job on Monday. So, since there's this huge reset that she was supposed to do the overnights for all week, guess who gets to fill in? It's not a fun situation to be in. I hate that she got fired...I hate the way in which it was all handled...I hate that I got thrown into all this when I had no idea what I was doing. It's been a hard week. On the plus side, being at work when we're not open means getting so much work done and not dealing with people. But still a nasty situation. So another photograph that makes me smile and feel happy. Hope it does the same for you.

smells good in here
My best friend, Anna, just quit smoking 4 days ago!!! I'm very proud of her, so I'm making her brownies. My apartment is filling with that yummy chocolaty smell that comes along with freshly baked brownies. Mmmmm...they're going to be delicious.
But I digress. This is a photography blog, you're saying. You should be talking about photography...not brownies. Well, fine! Aperture, shutter speed, depth of field, composition, focal length, other camera/photography terms. Here are your photographs for the day. Enjoy...but I know you won't enjoy them as much as Anna and I will enjoy the brownies.

something to make me happy
Isn't it horrible when someone says something...or in this case types something that just ruins your day? Wasn't even something pointed towards me, but it affected me rather strongly. Something someone posted on facebook, on a friends wall, just made me nearly sick to my stomach. This was posted by someone who for years and years was a very close friend of mine. She wrote something that I just had to comment on, because it was something I couldn't stay quiet about. And now I'm sure I'll get a bit of hate mail back about it, but hey...gotta stand up for what you believe in, right?
Anyway, this little orange fish makes me giggle frequently. He's in our 70 gallon fish tank. He has a buoyancy issue, but that doesn't keep him down. He swims around with the big fish although it takes much more effort. He's the runt of the tank and my favorite. So, this picture of him makes me happy. And that's just what I needed today.

It's been one week
I've been back in SLO for one week now. I can't believe the difference it's made. I'm feeling more like myself again. It's amazing how much I gave up for my job. The storm has passed now though and I'm back to being happy. Thank you to everyone who stuck with it and put up with me over those four months. I owe you!

fun with photoshop
So I played with Microsoft Digital Image Pro 7.0 today (not actually photoshop, I know, but who can afford that?).
I took a picture that I liked, but it was too dark.
So, first I played with the levels and lighting and got something that I liked a bit more.
Then, for fun, I decided to make it negative and got something I liked even more. Ain't technology great?

Oops!
So, I was just going back through some old posts and realized that the photos for July 14 and July 31 are nearly identical. One of them is, and the other is almost the same...definitely from the same shoot. Oops. We can't be perfect all the time. So, I looked through all the posts since I got the T2i and I definitely haven't posted this one yet. Enjoy!

I'm back!!
Started back in the San Luis Obispo store today. It was a bit awkward, I'm not gonna lie. It was amazing though when I got off work and was home 5 minutes later. Things'll get back to normal soon enough. And I'm gaining an extra hour a day now that I don't have all that driving...an hour that I can spend taking pictures!
