Was sitting in the breakfast nook yesterday, looking out the window and thinking, I need to take some pictures. That's when I looked down and noticed the lovely light on the plants that live on our table. Couldn't help but take a few shots. Enjoy!

Not Live Oak
I took these photographs back in January right after a storm had passed through. I live next door to an antique store and they have a lot of outdoor stuff in a fenced area behind the building. I loved they way the were lit from behind making them silhouettes, but silhouettes with a bit of depth. Hope you enjoy!

well, it was live oak
Ok, so these are a couple not so "pc" photographs. But, as I stated above, it was Live Oak. And to a lot of people, Live Oak does mean drinking and smoking weed. One of my friends set up the pipe and sunglasses, and I couldn't help but shoot a couple pictures. It was just too perfect. Hope no one was offended and enjoy the lighter side of art:

Home again, home again
Live Oak was amazing. As always, it went by way too fast. This year was a bit odd though seeing as it was freezing!!! At least, it was at night. During the day it was definitely not hot though. Friday night, I ended up going to bed at 12:30, not because I was necessarily tired, but because I knew I would be so much warmer curled up under a mountain of blankets than outside in my two jackets, long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, uggs, jeans, socks and beanie. Gotta say, that's a lot of clothes for the middle of June.
So, look forward to more Live Oak pictures over the next few days. And if you happen to be in the area, pick up a New Times, turn to page 43, and check out how Glen Starkey makes me look like a lush.

Friends in nature
At Live Oak, you'll see people you only see one time a year. However, there are never awkward pauses when you first see each other. There's never the inane small talk that you usually feel you have to have to catch up with someone. It's as if you never left Live Oak. It's a constant friendship that never skips a beat. It's such a feeling of love too. You'll start walking up to your friends and everyone smiles and screams your name (ok, so the screaming could also be alcohol related as well as love related). It's an amazing community that keeps you waiting for this weekend the other 362 days of the year.

Live Oak!
Every year on father's day weekend, there's a music festival at Lake Cachuma (down by Santa Barbara) call Live Oak. It's an amazing place where you get to camp under oak trees, listen to wonderful music, and have nothing you have to do for three days. This will be my 10th Live Oak. When I first started going it was always a great way to end the school year. Now, it's not like I have summer vacation anymore, so this one three-day weekend is my summer vacation!

Happy birthday to you
Today is my step-momma's birthday!!! She's been such an inspiration and one of my biggest supporters when it comes to my photography. She's given me her old cameras, taught me certain tricks and is always there with great comments when I capture something amazing. I'm so glad that she's in my life. Happy birthday, Margot!

Feeling like myself
I actually felt like myself today. My nose is still a bit runny and my voice still sounds a bit manly, but I feel like me again. Looking good for Live Oak this weekend! Just have to get through tomorrow and then 4 days off to relax, hang out with awesome people, and have no responsibilities. I can't wait! This will be my 10th Live Oak. I almost missed one year because I had this graduation thing that I was forced to participate in, but I still made a day trip down there.
A couple more Hawaii pictures. These are from my trip back in 2007. Hope you enjoy:
Since I will be out camping for a few days, there's a possibility that I won't have any posts up on Friday or Saturday. If I get on top of things, I'll actually go on here Thursday and post early so they'll show up and everything, but I have a lot of other things to do that day too. So, fair warning...for the maybe 5 people who read this.

Starting to feel better
Slowly but surely, I am recovering from my cold. Still didn't make it out to take new pictures yet though. So, dug up a few that I took in early April. It was rather close to Easter, so the cross was up on the hill. I'm not really religious at all anymore (although, I was a very good Catholic schoolgirl when I was in preschool...I have the "progs" to prove it), but I just loved the way it looked. I took both of these pictures early in the morning on one of my days off. I'm not sure what it is I like about the shadow picture...I just know that every time I look at it, I sit there for a minute before moving on to the next one. Something about it draws me in.

Still sick
But made it out of the house today for my friend's first art show opening. It was awesome! She's so very talented. Her artwork is up at Sustenance in SLO. Awesome space, awesome art...you should definitely check it out. Since I was still sick, I didn't take many pictures, but here are a couple:
If you do want to check out her artwork (not pictured), Sustenance is at 2033 Santa Barbara Street in San Luis Obispo. It's the yellow house/building across from Miner's Hardware. They also do awesome lunches and cooking demonstrations. Anna, my best friend is the kitchen manager there, so I thought some shameless plugging might be in order.

sunrise, sunset
This first photograph is a Christmas morning sunrise in Morro Bay, California. It was taken the same morning as the Morro Rock photograph that I posted on April 25th. It was a wonderful way to start Christmas: watching otters play, taking some pictures, spending time with family.
The sunset picture was taken in Hawaii back in October. I sat on the beach and between my camera and my phone took well over 50 shots. Some turned out better than others. This was one of my favorites.

Time to get ready for work
Thought I would make a post really quick before getting ready for work. These are a couple pictures that I took while walking around San Luis yesterday. While walking along this bridge, I suddenly felt something wet on my foot. I look down and realize that a bird just took a crap on my toe. Seriously, bird? Seriously? Because I'm nice, I'm not posting a picture of that.

baseball
Went to a Rattler's game last night. They're a local baseball team here in San Luis. Noah's work sponsors them so every now and then we get some free tickets. Last night was one of those nights. Had a great time and took a few photos. Take a look:
Chucks and baseball...I felt like I was in The Sandlot.
I like pictures of lights, what?

Hot hot hot!
Ok, so now I really remember why I don't live in North County. It's been 97 degrees the past two days in Paso Robles. Hot! Wouldn't be so bad if the air conditioning in the store actually worked like it's supposed to. Granted, it's cooler inside than out, but not by enough. My boss told me she's had people out 4 times to fix it, but for whatever reason, it just doesn't work. It reminds me of when I was in high school. The heaters always broke in the winter and the air conditioners broke in the summer. So, here are a couple cooling pictures. Hope they help beat the heat. Am enjoying being home in SLO where it's only 80 degrees right now. Think I might go get some frozen yogurt.
